Subject: Specific User Account when using "Run as Service"

As a standard security practice, I run 3rd party services under different user accounts. Therefore, I need to run Zip Backup to CD as a service under a specific user account (ie. NOT as LocalSystem).

I have created a user called "backup" and configured the Zip Backup service to use this user. When I try to start the service I receive an error with no error code. I suspect that Zip Backup needs access to certain files that it does not have permission to access.

Can anyone please advise on what permissions a user account requires to run Zip Backup as a service?

You have to log in as the backup user and make all the settings as the setup files are stored in the user profile. The user must have administrator rights as this are necessary to use a burner device on Windows 2000 or XP. You should be aware of the fact that the only account which is allowed to use the desktop is the system account, which mean that you can not get in contact with the program when you have started it as a service if it runs on a different account. If you need to get in contact with a network resource you have to use the the run before and after the login and out to the network resource. My advise is to stay with the system account as long as Windows has this restriction.

To make use of the support forum it is necessary for you to have an user account. If you already have such one, then use the login form below. Otherwise you can create a free user account by clicking here!
