Subject: problems with backup failure

Trying to backup a clients Winstore database and get continual failures.
Using version 3.19.5.496 of Zip Backup.
Error message is :
Backup error:Access violation at address 00403eda in module ZipBackup.exe
Backup terminated unexpected: Winstore Backup.dat

Have changed the brand of cd media. Have changed the cd burner to a different brand dvd burner.
Have tried to run the backup to a seperate hard drive rather than burning to cd media.
Have reinstalled version 3.19.5.496.

The backup always fails. Get anywhere from 3 to 10 zipped files which are corrupt. Backup takes approx 30mins for a database that is approx 100mb.

Am going onsite to try it with the latest version 3.20, but am not holding my breathe.
Any suggestions
Any help would be appreciated here.
Thanks
Gavan.

Ok, installed version 3.20 and am still getting problems.
I was able to copy a backup to the hard drive. However, when I try and burn directly to rewritable media, I am still getting memory errors.
Here is an excerpt of the log

I have emailed this through as well since Ive had no feedback as yet.
Can you please get back to me asap, as the client is getting to the point of wanting to change software.
Thanks
Gav

Your log indicate that the problem is happening at the zip process writing to the temp space on your hard drive. This kind of error can be a problem with overheating in the cpu or a memory defects. Normally when you zip the processor is running with 100% processor load and a dirty cpu cooler can result in overheating. You should try to download memtest or another memory test program and test the PC.

Thanks for your post. Cleaned the heatsink.
Tested memory with memtest for 1hr. 3 full passes and no errors.
Any other suggestions?

Well, Ive left it three weeks and have still had no further reply, either by email or via this forum.
Must say, Im pretty disappointed.
Im left with no option but to look at other backup alternatives.
Thanks for your time.
Gavan
