Have a Sony DVD RW DRU-700A drive.
On the CD/DVD tab the drive is not recognized.
Shows Generic DVD-ROM 1.0 as device.
Why is it not recognized?

Hi Stuart,
you have to start the ZipBackup.exe with Local Admin-Rights
i.e when im logged on our domain I've got the same: only read access to the CD-RW drive.
If you use run as...(with shift and context menu) ZipBackup.exe, and use a local Admin-Account you will get full access to the Writer. You can use the "run as service" option of the program to make it acessible to normal user-accounts. Also see "About version 3" http://www.zip-backup.com/beta.php on the end of the text

Norbert,
I am logged in as administrator, so that should give me all the rights I need. Looking at the CD/DVD tab, I only have read rights.
Other programs, such as Nero, write to the drive fine.
Any other suggestions.

There is a beta version available http://www.datahjaelp.com/beta/zipbackup319b.zip
You may give it a try if it does not work try to change the use internal aspi driver.
