Is there a manufacturer of a multiple capacity dvd writer which works with this software ----
Or -- can we just back up to a portable USB hard drive

We do not know if there is a multiple capacity DVD writer which works. But if you have more than one DVD drive connected to your computer you can setup the program to use more than one destination ( D:|E:|G: ) will start with filling the D drive and then continue with the E drive and so on.
You can also backup to a portable USB hard drive.
