I go through the back up routine all performs ok and writes to DVD+RW. I cannot access the disk after this. If i put disk in another machine i can read DVD and unzip file created. Tried setting to original aspi drivers no different. Any ideas? I am using a Liteon DVD writer.

If you are using Windows 98 or ME there is nothing you can do except to reboot it may help. This is a problem in Windows in connection with Com drives where th media after burning can't be recognised or sometimes is recognised as a music CD. It is seen that a media has worked for some time and then stops working. But the problem is related to a combination of Windows, ASPI driver, device and media. As you write you can see the data if you put the DVD in another PC. You have to be careful as the program can not see that there is data on the DVD an therefor might try to append a file to the DVD, this will result in a overwritten file or most probably in a write error and a DVD where th data are unreadable.

Thanks for your help, its a win2k machine. So no real definitive solution other than the usual messing about with drivers!
